About this deal

Elfroggio, since you have both of them, how do you find 685 balances on the camera? Do you think it is reasonable? When I mount sb600 I find it reasonable, for comparison sake, but the weight and dimensions of 685 a a bit bigger on paper than for sb600. Here’s a shot at 1/2000sec and f/1.4, ISO400 with HSS on. (You’ll find bumping the ISO helps save battery life, which is why I’m using ISO400 here). Two lights With the TT350 inside a 120cm Octa (with the diffuser on), you’re ready to get some big light from a small flash. With the Octa between you and the subject, you’ll get flattering light in the ‘Butterfly’ position. The Godox TT350 is a flash unit that is compatible with Olympus cameras. It has a flash guide number of 36m and a color temperature of 5600K. The flash duration ranges from 1/350s for minimum power to 1/20000s for maximum power. It offers stroboscopic flash modes and has 3 group settings and 16 channels.

Most of us who do off-camera flash with speedlights do so because of the Strobist. It's mostly about cost and convenience, and starting out with what you have. A lot of us already had a speedlight in the bag. And a speedlight can be used both on and off camera. The portability of working with speedlights is the other advantage to weigh against the much lower power and smaller size of the light. As an on-camera transmitter with a TT685C (I also shoot Canon) with upgraded firmware and in OLPS (Olympus) slave mode, however, the picture is muddier. If I use the combination indoors or in low light outdoors, everything works. If I then move this working combination to bright light (near a window, outside in sunny-16), everything goes to hell in a handbasket. TTL fires out of sync, and HSS refuses to fire at all. In M and out of HSS, remote power control and firing work fine. [facepalm]. Same behavior with my G3. Here’s a portrait with this dual-light Octa box setup on the left (facing across the shot) and a white reflector on the right. I am building a flash kit because some of my older YN flashes have corroded beyond usability; and I was gifted a godox x2T transmitter without lights or supported receiver (X1R). I was attracted to the convenience of being able to adjust power on camera. I am torn between the wide variety of Godox has to offer. Off camera helps, then getting into using multiple lights, various modifiers and other natural light shaping tools and techniques. With high-speed sync, and a built-in 2.4GHz radio system, the compact Godox TT350 Thinklite TTL Flash is an excellent everyday companion for your camera. With a lightweight design and guide number of 118′ at ISO 100 and 105mm, the TT350S is useful for both on-camera and off-camera operation. Users can also use it as an optical slave in addition to use as a radio TTL master/slave unit. It is versatile as well with the ability to tilt from -7 to 90° and rotate 270°. Removing one of the lights and putting it on a stand behind our subject gives a good cross-light setup. Should you get a TT350? So, just my opinion, if you're planning on shooting with the flash on-camera most of the time and your ceilings aren't more than 10' high, the TT350 is sufficient, but a TT685 might be nicer if you can handle the weight/size.

GODOX TT350O 2.4GHz TTL SpeedLite for Olympus / Panasonic

When you first turn the flash on it is in TTL mode. It means that the flash is ready to fire and set its power automatically, based on the information sent by the camera. This only works if the flash model is compatible with your camera. If your flashes are marked for, let’s say Canon, and you have a Nikon camera, TTL will not work. All firmware is up-to-date. One Zoom Li-on can trigger the other in any AF mode, so this odd behavior is unique to the R2. Set both flashes to the same channel and group. This allows them to automatically match power when you make a change.

Me? I bought two so I can use them in the configurations I’ve shown here, and as a master-slave setup if I have an issue with a trigger.

Even though TTL is very useful in situations with constantly changing lights, it’s also hard to debug in case things don’t work. That’s why so many people recommend shooting with flash in manual mode. The SK II, DP II, QS iI, and QT II Godox plug-in strobes all have built-in receivers for the X-system. None of them do TTL, the QT II can do HSS. But all of them can have their power remotely controlled from an X transmitter unit. Because, unlike you, I shoot off-camera flash far more than on-camera, it was much easier for me to get a TT350-O for my GX7 for on-camera fill/bounce, and then primarily use it as a radio master for my two TT600 and TT685-C. Once you put it on a lightstand, the size/weight of a speedlight doesn't matter so much... It's a cute image - You seemed to find a good combo of ambient and flash - without it looking "flashed". The battery compartment is pretty straightforward, except it only holds two AA batteries, which gives you a big hint about its power output (spoiler: it’s not super powerful, but it’s great).Have a look at the pic of my three year old. I shot it with the 25mm f/1.7 Panasonic lens and the settings were at f/2.2 ISO 400 and 1/160 with my tt350o flash power set to 1/2 power. I had the flash pointed up and a little bit forward toward the subject to be evenly lit. I found bouncing off the sides didn't work as well for what I wanted.
