LaunchPad (right) is a free beatmaking app that lets you trigger and manipulate up to 8 audio loops at a time.
This mode is recommended if the Launchpad S is being used with a standard desktop/laptop computer, and particularly in daylight. As well as ‘Ableton Live Launchpad Edition’, Launchpad S comes with a software version of Novation’s classic analogue mono-synth – the Bass Station. does anybody have any experience with the Launchpad S (LP-S), especially how to light or extinguish the Led's? Should you want to upgrade your license, having this version lets you upgrade for 299 pounds instead of 399, if I am not mistaken), Novation Bass Station (software version, of course, as a VST that comes with a special mapping for Launchkey, which I do not own) and a Loopmasters Sample Library (downloaded it, haven't gone through it yet). Another difficulty I encountered concerned the other software supplied with this device - "Bass Station" and the "Loopmaster Pack" download.I plugged the Launchpad S — as well as my Launchpad 1 — into my Mac via a powered USB hub, and fired up Ableton Live 9. Having watched videos of people using this , I thought it would be really fun and I could jump straight in. This is not a software control app; it hosts its own sounds and enables you to trigger loops with your Launchpad S hardware. The third new feature, MIDI Class Compliance, might tip the balance in the Launchpad S’s favor, though.
Novation's Launchpad S Control Pack is a combination of everything you need to make and perform electronic music with Ableton Live.Class compliance also gives Linux-based musicians a chance to play, and makes the new Launchpad compatible with the iPad (via Apple's Camera Connection Kit — see the 'iLaunchpad' box).
It works well with all the additional applications and presets that work on the older Launchpad as well.
Launchpad S also triggers loops and effects in the new Novation Launchpad app for iPad; a totally self-standing music performance app that hosts sounds and effects. Launchpad S and Launch Control are fully class-compliant plug and play devices - no drivers required. The launchpad version is very restriced , and only lets you open one of the demo sessions it comes with.
it is FAR too complex and not that intuitive, -I found that even with a "Quick-Pro" guide that I could not make head or tail of the process. The information obtained through cookies allows us to compile ad performance statistics and serve retargeting ads on The Trade Desks advertising network. The online registration process is fiddly and irritating — more so than it needs to be, I feel, to protect the bundled applications from casual piracy — but once done, you get Ableton Live Launchpad Edition (which seems to be a rebadged Ableton Live 8 Lite), Loopmasters Content loops, additional manuals and Windows drivers. One of these and a decent sized keyboard and you have far more potential to experiment with your music.
Launchpad S can do all this but has vastly brighter LEDs, a significantly faster refresh rate and is now plug and play with other software such as FL Studio. The fact that it is class-compliant means that no additional drivers are needed to get started with Launchpad S. Custom designed cases keep your Launchpad S and Launch Control both tidy and secure in your gig bag and are designed to be quick to pack and unpack. Get Launchpad S, Launch Control, Ableton Live Lite 9, 1GB of loops and sounds, and two custom designed cases in a single pack.
